Welcome Home

We were very excited to welcome home Elder Cannon.  We were in the wrong terminal at first so we were glad we saw him get off the plane.  There were several missionaries coming home with him, but the person who Ryan sat next to on the plane blocked everyone and said, "He needs to go--he hasn't seen his family in two years."    I guess she didn't realize the others were in the same boat.  Here are some pictures of his homecoming.

1-Saying farewell to his mission president and wife.

2-Here we are at the airport.

3-We made some food stops on the way home.  Ryan wanted to eat at Olive Garden.  We also stopped at Krispy Kreme for a fresh, hot doughnut, since that was our last stop with him before dropping him off at the MTC.

4-Here are the welcome home signs we had in the yard. (Those are smiley-face balloons we had staked all over the yard).

5-He is home!  His homecoming talk was on Mother's Day.  What a great gift having all four of my boys with me that day.  In the evening Ryan sang Michael Buble's "Home" song for me and said, "I'm home."  It was awesome.

I AM GOING TO MISS THE MISSION SO MUCH.

This week went very well for us! I am really enjoying my Mission.  The results are still coming. This Friday we had a baptism of the cutest kid. His name is Marco, it was a special baptism.  Before I actually baptized him I was almost crying.  This is my last baptism as a full time missionary. I am going to miss the Mission so much.  I am excited to go home to see my family, but I feel like I am leaving a lot of families here in Mexico.  I did not think that I could love these people so much. We had a really awesome family attend church on Sunday.  I am really excited for them. Wow, one week, I can´t express how I feel.  I am feeling a little bit of everything, but I know that God has a plan for me.  He knows everything and if I follow his plan everything will be alright. I am excited for my life. I am excited to see you guys and be with you guys and to continue to serve the Lord. Just because I served a Mission, does not mean that I am saved.  There is a lot of work to do when I get back. I love you.  In case I don´t get to write you next week I will see you at the airport. Don´t forget that I am coming home on Wednesday night, I´ll see you soon!

Two-Year Mark

Our Easter was really special, except my companion got pretty sick and we were in the hospital from Sunday morning until Monday night. It felt so good to finally leave the hospital.  Time goes by so slow when one is in the hospital. I have learned that when someone is busy and is working a lot, Time Flies! I felt a little sick as well, I think that it was something that we ate. General Conference was really special, pure power, I received a lot of revelation and I am excited to apply all that I learned. My Testimony and Faith strengthens a lot after listening to General Conference.  I remember when I was younger, I would always look at the clock and say how long until this is over. Now I can't believe how quickly that they end.  Each session goes by really fast. This was funny, when we were watching the Saturday morning session, almost all of the talks were about eternal marriage, my companion and the other missionaries, were like this talk is for you, listen up! They kept telling me that I need to get married as soon as possible after the mission. Dinner at the Newmans house was amazing.  The food was great.  They live in a beautiful house, and it was a really spiritual experience! They are intelligent and I learned a lot talking to them. It sounds like you guys had a really fun week in Las Vegas! I am happy for you guys.  I got the package that you sent me for Easter! I loved it, thanks so much for sending it, I shared most of it with the zone, I was so surprised to see cake battered flavored chap stick, it smells good. Thanks again for the package, you are the best Mother in the whole world! I love you! Tell Loren and George hello, and that I will see them soon. Have a Great Week, I love you!

Elder Cannon

This is Elder Marshall and I with the Mission President Velez. It was our 24 month anniversary in the mission. In this Multi Zone Conference they had all of the missionaries that were going home share their testimonies, I was crying a little in my testimonio it was hard, but powerful. I am so grateful to have served a full time Mission!

So excited for General Conference

March 30, 2015
I am really excited for General Conference this weekend, I can feel that it is going to be really powerful and I am excited to learn and apply. This Friday we are going to the Paz to have a Multi Zone Conference.  That will be really awesome. This week will be a week of learning and listening. That is cool that you are going to Las Vegas. All of the members are asking me what I am going to do when I get home, and they say how my family must be so excited to see me. I need to stay focused and endure to the end. We are working hard and should have a baptism the week after General Conference. Something hard happened this week a member in our Ward.  Our recent convert Susana, just heard that her mother´s lungs are failing and might die.  She is going to Oaxaca, Mexico for a while. I felt really bad for her.  Her mother in law who was getting prepared to get baptized might not be here. We are going to help her find the church and continue to attend while she is gone. An American Family(The Newmans) invited 6 missionaries to eat Dinner with them for Easter.  They are smart, fun, and fairly wealthy. Sister Marsha Newman writes novels, she wrote "Joseph and Emma, A Love Story."  She knows and has studied a lot. Thanks for everything.  This week is going to be awesome, and we will get her done. Thanks for all of your love and support, I love you and Don´t Forget to tell JACOB HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He is getting old.  I am happy for him and hope that he has a great birthday!!! Have a great Week! And Don´t forget to listen to General Conference!

Tell everyone "Hello"

March 23, 2015
The temperature isn´t too bad, but it is starting to heat up a little bit. This week went very good for us, we had some Ex Missionaries come to our area and work with us. We also had an 18 year old who just left to the MTC today, he went with us all day long. He was kind of nervous for the first few lessons and then kind of got a hang of it and it was really special for him. We taught a lot of lessons this week and had a lot of investigadors go to church, that was really good. We had a really good week, I am really grateful and happy to still be on the Mission, I am learning a lot and I know that God still needs me here. I am sure that Jacob had a really good time, that is good for him, he looks happy in the pictures that you sent me. It sounds like Isaac is pretty good at Tennis. I have some news, I just received my flight plans for my return to Utah, I´ll send them to you guys. I still can´t believe that my Mission is coming to an end. It is funny how when I started my Mission everyone wrote me, and now that I am finishing it everyone is writing me again. Have a great week, and remember how much that I love you so much, I love you guys so much, I hope that you are proud of me, I love the Gospel, I love being a missionary and the experience and knowledge that I have gained on a Mission, it is priceless! I have learned and progressed like none other and I am ready to continue forward with Faith and help others at all time! My testimony grows stronger every day, the more we share it, the stronger and more earnest they become! Have a great week, and tell everyone hello!

Last transfer

March 16, 2015
The Whole zone pretty much stayed the same in this transfer, only two missionaries are leaving our Zone. I am going to finish my Mission in Los Cabos! I cannot believe it, my last transfer in the MIssion, I just get emotional thinking about it. President Velez just wrote me a letter saying that he was very grateful for my service and for all that I had done to help the Mission, and that it was going to be the last letter to me. That hit me so hard, my last letter to President, I am going to miss writing him. Six more weeks! I am going to take advantage of the very little time that I have left. Everyone is trying to kill me by saying that I am going home.  I know that I stayed in this area to try my Faith, because I know everybody and everybody knows me and I know what I need to do. I just need to focus and work as hard as I can. Elder Marshall is in my Zone! Elder Hymas goes home one transfer after I do.  Jacob is going to prom?  Wow he is a lot more manly than I was.   I remembered I wimped out and gave a lot of excuses(money..etc) That is awesome that Isaac is discovering his talents, he has a really bright future ahead of him. I love you guys so much, and I am so grateful for all that you have done for me. I love the Gospel of Jesus Christ, I love being a missionary, I love teaching and sharing what I know is true to other people. I love sharing my testimony to everyone and serving and helping other people. I have also learned that when someone is about to finish their mission, everyone wants to talk to me and write me. I am sorry that I don´t have more time to write, I love you so much! Have a great week!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Worst Thing ever...

March 9, 2015

This week went very well, we walked a ton and worked really hard. The worst thing ever...I received a phone call from the Secretaries of the Mission, "Hey Elder Cannon, we have a question for you...Sure, tell how can I help...Elder which airport is the closest to your house? We need to buy the plane tickets in advance."  I couldn`t believe it, it really surprised me. Then 2 days later they asked the same thing to my companion Elder Hymas. Why do Mission`s have to come to an end?

We have started going to a Gym, at 6 am! It feels really good to work out with weights and the trainer, Eric is really cool.  We are really good friends. That is awesome that Jay Wilson saw Tiffany. When does she go home? Eliza and Logan seemed really happy.  Tell them congratulations for their wedding and that I am really happy for them and their future is very bright! I am sure that Dan Harris gave an amazing talk and that he did an excellent job. Everything is going very well here.  We are excited and this next week we will have transfers, I would like to end my Mission here, even though I know that some of the members would try to distract by telling me that I am going home and what I am going to do. I will tell you all about the transfers, my last transfer, noooooooooo, why? I am going to see if I can extend one more transfer, just kidding. Ex Elder Cano said that he will be coming back to Los Cabos to visit, we are excited to see him! I love being a missionary, I have learned and grown so much, my testimony has strengthened and I love the Gospel of Jesus Christ! There is no work more important than preaching the Gospel and doing the Lord`s work! Thanks for all of your love and support and for all that you have done for me! I love you guys so much, I have the best family in the world!   Love, Elder Cannon

Missionary Retreat, Baptism, and Flood

February 23, 2015

This week was amazing! A lot happened in this week! On Thursday we watched the movie Meet the Mormons with all of the missionaries in the Zone! It was an awesome movie! All of the missionaries were crying when they saw the missionary saying goodbye to his family, even I cried a little. After the movie my companion and I went to the Paz with President and Sister Velez and his Assistents, on the way we stopped by Hotel California and took pictures with President and his Assistents! I found out the one of the Sister Leaders in our Zone, Hermana Peterson was also in the singing group Tavaci! I couldn´t believe it and she couldn´t believe it, it was cool. We stay in a really nice hotel called ONE, I slept like a baby in the cozy bed and then we ate a delicious free breakfast in the hotel. The Meeting was amazing with the President, his wife, and the Assistents! Our lesson went really well and everyone liked it and said really liked it! The lesson wasn´t to President, it was to other Zone Leaders and a Sister Missionary Leader of Los Cabos(Hermana Peterson). We had to wait for the bus to go back to Los Cabos for a few hours. We didn´t get home until about 10:15 pm. Then on Saturday we had a baptism of Susana! It was a really special baptism, when I saw her dressed in white, the Spirit just hit me very hard! I love the Gospel! I love watching others accept the Gospel and making covenants with our Heavenly Father and preparing them to return to live with Him! She was confirmed a member on Sunday and I could see a big light and smile on her face in this process! She is going to be such an awesome member and I am really excited for her and to see her fulfill her potencial that she has! That sounds it was a fun church activity that you guys had. It sounds like the family is doing really well, I will pray a lot for Grandpa Robinette.

March 2, 2015
This week went really well for our Zone, we actually broke a record in our Zone for the amount of baptisms that we had in February! That is cool and makes us look good.  Tomorrow, March 3, 2015 I will officially have 23 months on the Mission, that sounds like an extremely long time, but it doesn´t seem like I have been gone for that long. I am grateful that I still have 8 weeks left on my Mission. We gave the Zone Meeting this Tuesday, it went really well! I really like teaching and training other missionaries, it was the first time that my companion Elder Hymas had given a Zone Meeting before, and he did a really good job. Something really funny that happened this week, we have a washing machine in our house. The other Elders that live above us wanted to wash their clothes, they turned on the water and there was no water left. They left the valve on, we left the house and while we were contacting somebody in the street we received a phone call that our house was flooding, my companion and I immediately sprinted to the house and we started taking out all of the water, it took a while and all of the neighbors were looking at us kind of strangely, but that is okay, all is well now. The entire house had about two inches of water in it. This week was a fun adventure and I am sure that the next week will be as well. Thanks for your letter, I am really glad to hear that all is well back home and that life is good! I love you!

Oldest Missionary in the Zone

February 3, 2015
I am feeling perfect, and no longer sick. This week was really good and hard to watch my companion finish his Mission. He ended well his Mission and it was hard for him to say good bye to everyone. We had transfers there were a lot of transfers in this Zone. My new companion is Elder Hymas he is from Meridian Idaho, over one year ago I was his District Leader and now we are Zone Leaders. He is way awesome and we are so excited to Preach the Gospel and to be together.  We are really good friends. He is my first companion that I had already met before he was my companion. Elder Hymas would always joke around that we were going to be companions, and now we are! Today we traveled in bus for about 6 hours to bring new missionaries to their area, we were so ready to go to work. We have been super busy with all of the transfers and with a lot to do, it is fun. Our Investigador Laura passed her baptismal interview today and she is going to get baptized this Friday, the Zone is going to do amazing this transfer, I am feeling it. Laura wanted Elder Cano to be in his baptism, we are going to see what we can do, and it will be very special for her. I am thankful for all of the blessings that God has given us and am very excited to work and work and work to bring many people to Christ. I can´t believe that I only have two more transfers of my Mission left, I am going to make the very best of them! Thanks for all of your love and support that you have given me all throughout my Mission. I love you so much and hope the best for you!

Elder Cannon

February 9, 2015

It was a lot of fun working this week, I like working with my companion and we are excited for our area. It is hitting me hard, that I have little time left on my Mission, all of the members and missionaries say it to me, I am the oldest missionary in the Zone, it is honestly kind of hard. I am excited to continue to preach the Gospel and to see Miracles! I love my Savior Jesus Christ! I love the Gospel, I love how the Spirit works and seeing how it works in others lives. I will work until my last of my Mission to bring others unto Christ. I have a lot of responsability and a lot to do on earth! I will do my best and I will do the will of my Father in Heaven! Thanks for the letter and support!

This was Elder Cano's last district meeting

February 16, 2015
This week went amazing.  The whole Zone did really well and we are pumped to Preach the Gospel! Laura got baptized this Friday, it was such a special baptism! I baptized her.  The Ward gave her a lot of support and made her feel loved. After the baptism she was crying and I knew that the Spirit had touched her heart and softened it. My old companion Brother Cano called Laura and told her congratulations, it was such a special day and I will never forget it.  Words can´t describe these moments. It is funny because I still remember the first day that we met her and now seeing where she is at now is incredible. This week we have two baptisms coming up, possibly three! We are really excited for all of the success that we are about to have.  We have been working really hard and the work is starting to pay off. This Friday all of the Zone Leaders in the Baja California are going to have a Meeting with President Velez, his wife and the Assistants. The Assistants said that they have thought a lot and they think that me and my companion should teach an lesson to President Velez.  We are going to teach The Gospel of Jesus Christ.  We are going to teach to our Mission President in front of all the Leaders. I am excited.  It is something that I have never done and we are going to prepare and do our very best! Thanks for all of your love and support and have an Excellent Week, I love you!

Love,

Elder Cannon

P.S.  This is Laura's baptism.  She makes us look tall.  She is 17 years old and says she wants to go on a mission.

Share the Gospel with Everyone!

Wow that was quite an awesome experience with the missionaries that you had. I had an infection in my throat and an infection in my stomach, they gave me four medicines and made me rest for a little while. That wasn´t so fun. When we left the hospital we had quite a bit of success.  We had 8 investigators attend church on Sunday.  We might have a baptism this week.  Her name is Laura.  She is almost ready to get baptized. She has been to church on and off for about 2 years, but she has never received a testimony of the church. We are praying and hoping that she can get baptized before my companion goes home.  This is his last week on the Mission. Time goes by way too fast. This is the last week of the transfer and then I only have 3 months on my Mission. It is something that hurts, in three months I will not be a full time missionary. I am excited for the future and for the rest of my Mission. I know without a doubt in my heart that this church is the true church, it is the truth, the Spirit has testified and told me time after time and I will never deny it. I know that Jesus Christ my Savior and Redeemer and that he atoned and suffered for my sins, I am so grateful for the Atonement of Jesus Christ, I know that I can repent and be cleansed of my sins. I know that God has a plan for me.  He knows everything and he is perfect. I know that he loves me and knows what is best for me. I know that the Book of Mormon is true and that Joseph Smith was a true prophet of God. My testimony has grown a lot in these 2 years. I am so grateful for everything that God has given me, God has given me everything and I am in debt to him. I love the Gospel and I love my Savior. I will do my best to share the Gospel to the world. There is a lot to do here in Los Cabos. Thanks for your example and for teaching me the Gospel! I love you guys so much and I will make you guys proud and serve with all of my heart. I hope that Amanda has a great time and can go to Italy soon. Have a great Week and Share the Gospel with everyone.

In the Hospital

January 19, 2015
This week went well.  The only bad thing is that I got sick and I was in the hospital for a little while, but right now I am feeling a lot better. My companion finishes his Mission in just two weeks.

We had some baptisms in the Zone this week! We should be having some baptisms at the end of the month and in February, we are excited for that. Today we went to Hard Rock Cafe one of the co- managers there gave us a 50% discount! The food was amazing. My companion is kind of worried about going home.  He doesn´t feel like he is ready to go home and he said it doesn´t feel like he is already going home. I know that this week will be excellent and we will go help a lot of people in need. Thanks for the letter mom, I love you, I am so grateful to have you in my life.

Love,

Elder Cannon

Zone Meeting and Hike

January 12, 2015

We had our Meeting for the Leaders of the Mission.  It was very special! My companion and I taught all of the missionaries.  It was really special and the Spirit was very strong in the Meeting. It was special to see President Velez and his wife, they always get us excited to work hard.  The weather is still warm down here. Today we hiked up a hill that had an amazing overlook, it was really pretty and the sunrise was beautiful. Then we went the center of Los Cabos to eat we ate at an expensive famous restaurant called Jimmy Rockets, the burgers there are amazing. It honestly kind of felt like I was on vacation while we were there. There are so many tourists and quite a few Americans visiting. We had a really good week, the attendance at church was 190! It was full, there were no empty seats in church. Life is really good, a former missionary Varian Logan Helm came down to visit.  He was a missionary about a year ago in Los Cabos.  He worked with us and visited all of the members. He is way cool and helped us a lot. We had some really good lessons with him, with the Spirit very strong. I love these experiences they strengthen my faith and my testimony of this work. I am really happy to be here and to serve others. I am learning and progressing so much as a person, I can feel a big change happening in me. We had a gift exchange with the other Zone for Christmas, it felt good to give. My gift was from a sister Missionary who called everyone in my zone to found out my talents and who I really am.  She made a three page story based on what everyone told her about me. It was really special and it was a really great gift.  She also gave me ties, and American candies! I will send you pictures of today and the gift exchange that we had! I love you so much, thanks for all of the love and support that you have given me on my Mission! Have a great week and prepare for the Second Coming of our Savior Jesus Christ!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

December 29, 2014
This Christmas was the best! A lot of people invited us to eat with them.  We were all so full!!!!! It made me feel really loved that so many people would invite us to be with them during them Christmas Day! It felt really good to see the family and talk to you guys. It honestly doesn´t seem like it has been that long since I was with you guys, but now I look back I can´t believe that it has almost been 2 years. This week we had a lot of success and we had a really good week! I honestly could not be any more happier.  I am so grateful for everything that I have and for the Gospel that I have in my life. I love this Gospel and the message that we share as missionaries! I love the Scriptures, I love being a missionary, I love the Spirit, I love my Savior and Redeemer Jesus Christ.  I love sharing the Gospel! My testimony has increased greatly on the mission, I have learned and progressed so much!  This is a picture of our District on Christmas Day! We had a lot of fun, and everyone loved talking to their families! My companion was so excited to see them.  He is going to be with them in 5 weeks! Merry Christmas!

January 5, 2015
Our New Year was really special.  We ate a lot of food and heard a lot of people going crazy when it was midnight.  Right on the beach all of the hotels near the beach launched fire works.  That was really cool! At nearly every single house that we went to visit, everyone gave us food. I feel like I have gained a little bit of weight.  We also hit some piñatas and played the game that you gave me called Spy It. We found a really awesome family to teach.  All of the other missionaries are giving my companion a hard time because he goes home in one month. My companion Elder Cano was pretty sick this week.  We went to the hospital twice and he still hasn´t felt any better. The doctors didn´t check him.  They just talked to him and then gave him more medicine. He still doesn´t feel better, but he does not want to rest.  He doesn´t ever put up excuses not to work. I love that about him. This week President Velez and Hermana Velez are going to come down and visit Los Cabos along with the Assistants, so that should be fun.  2014 was a great year, I am so exited for this new year and to see what God has in store for me in 2015. I still can´t believe it is 2015, I remember when it was 2013.  Time is flying by. I love this work, I love being a missionary, and the opportunity that I have to be a missionary and for all that God has given. My testimony has grown so much, my love and understanding of the Gospel have grown so much. Thanks for the letter and for all of your love and support. I will send you pictures from Christmas and New Year!
Love, Elder Cannon

P.S. Tell Isaac Happy Birthday! ¡FELIZ CUMPLEAÑOS! Isaac is getting older, he is growing up! I hope that he had a wonderful birthday! When it was January 1, I remembered that it was his birthday, and that he was turning 15 years old. That is crazy and I am happy for him. I love you bro!
